Dear Reader,
A bunch of International Living members have reached out to me over the last few months—perhaps you among them—asking if I’d be willing to provide one-on-one consultations...
While that’s not a service I had planned on offering, I do understand that it can be difficult to parse the options available to you. And this is not an area in which you want to make a mistake.
So yes, let’s work together.
But I’ll have to limit the number of spots.
And I’ll say right up front here: This consulting service won’t be right for everybody.
This is for you if you need help understanding how to make the advantages of an “internationalized” life work with your specific situation.
It is for you if, for instance...
You’d like to have a second passport, but you need help with your options – especially if you want to be sure your passport fits your travel, retirement, and financial goals (and estate plans). For example, you’d like access to Europe... but aren’t sure if actually being a citizen in (typically) high-tax Europe is a good idea. Or maybe you want to diversify away from the U.S. and Europe entirely. Where, then, do you go?
You’re interested in investing in foreign real estate but you’d like to know the risks and advantages of specific markets OR the best way to hold your property—for example, you might want to hold foreign real estate in an IRA… or use your property to move wealth outside the US… or use it to generate income… all viable options depending your specific situation.
You’re interested in using overseas residency to lower or eliminate your taxes ... but you’re not sure what country would make the most sense...
You want to store gold or other assets overseas… or invest in new overseas assets… but it’s unclear how or where to safely, legally make that happen...
You like the idea of having a foreign bank account... to open up new investments, hold currencies other than the US Dollar, or protect yourself from a banking disruption back home…
You’d like to understand the foreign legal structures you can use to better protect your assets, your house, your business, your foreign property... you want to know where the guardrails are, the benefits, the costs, and any drawbacks...
You want to know how to navigate the tax and reporting implications that come with foreign holdings so that you stay well within the bounds of the law and benefit from a more global stance without taking costly missteps by accident...
You’d like to establish a new business overseas but need help figuring out where and how…
You want to pass the advantages of global diversification on to your heirs such as children and grandchildren…
If any of these are of concern for you, I can help…
“Ted knows his stuff! I came away with the impression he is extremely knowledgeable and gave me what I needed to plan my life overseas.”
– B.L.
If you don’t know what you’re doing, “internationalizing” your life can get very complicated – and expensive – very quickly.
A good example of this is “expatriation,” or renouncing your U.S. citizenship.
Certainly, for some it’s a viable (and even recommended) path…
But more often than not, when I sit down with a would-be expatriate, he comes to the realization that he can achieve exactly the same goal using a far faster, cheaper, and easier solution (which is also not permanent, and doesn’t require missing births, graduations, and other family milestones back home).
Simplicity – that’s probably the biggest benefit I can offer you in a personal consultation. I try to give you every tool you need in Global Citizen. But I also realize that there are a LOT of tools to choose from and not every tool will work for every person.
In our on-on-one consults, I’ll work with you to create a custom blueprint. Then I’ll connect you with the right experts who can help you put that plan into action... things should be reasonably "plug and play" from there.
To be clear, I am not an attorney. I’m not a financial advisor. I’m not a banker. I’m not a tax expert. I am not going to draw up any contracts or tell you precisely how your portfolio should be allocated or open any accounts for you. I can’t give you personalized investment advice.
What I can do is help you with the master plan… then plug in the right contacts – trusted, reliable – to make it happen.
These contacts, by the way, are among the world’s top experts in their fields – people who can do everything from storing your gold offshore, to arranging the purchase of a new passport, to setting up rock solid offshore trusts, to residency, and more. Unlike your typical professional, they don’t just know the laws… they know the people who make the laws.
In short, this is the team you want on your side.
To be clear: you don’t need to be ultra-wealthy to make use of a consultation with me or avail of their services.
Anyone can benefit from diversifying some aspect of their life overseas. In fact, I can think of several “global diversification” strategies that work much better with more modest net worths.
Nor do we need to confine our talk to “defense.” We can go on the offense, too.
There are lots of opportunities for investment and wealth creation overseas as well. And while I can’t speak to specific securities, or give personalized investment advice, I can speak to asset categories and providers I trust.
There’s always opportunity someplace in the world.
Let’s take a look at how we’ll work together…
“I really enjoyed and appreciated speaking with Ted. It was a service that felt authentic and unique for my personal needs.”
– R.K.
Here’s how it will go…
STEP 1: You reserve your place below with a request for consultation at the bottom of this page.
STEP 2: You fill out the short questionnaire I will send you once your spot is confirmed. I want to understand what you’re interested in doing and why.
STEP 3: We’ll hop on a 15- to 20-minute pre-consultation call, and I’ll ask you some questions to make sure we’re on the same page in terms of what your goals are.
STEP 4: I’ll go away for a few days and assemble your options, do some added research, and touch base with my contacts. My goal is to arrive at our next consult with everything we need to put the pieces together quickly and efficiently. (I value my time, as I’m sure you do.)
STEP 5: We'll put the pieces together in two one-on-one sessions of up to 45 minutes each. Splitting the consultation in two allows us to identify key issues so I can research and identify the best solutions, which we'll finalize in the second meeting.
STEP 6: I’ll make the necessary introductions to your “global diversification team”: professionals around the world who can help you put your game plan into action. No matter what you want to do, you’ll have the best people on your side.
STEP 7: You’ll have an additional 2 weeks of support from me for any follow ups or clarifications. No need to schedule a time. Just shoot me an email.
Look, this stuff is complicated. The rules—and what countries are offering—are constantly changing. It’s not impossible to navigate, but there are laws you don’t want to run afoul of. This is not a fake-it-till-you-make-it situation.
You want to be sure that what you’re doing in one jurisdiction makes sense, considering what you want to do in another. And you need to know when the benefits outweigh the downsides... and when they do not.
I can help you sort through all of that and provide you well-reasoned, well-informed, seasoned guidance.
This is a specialized service—not something that can be automated—so you can understand why I can’t offer an unlimited number of slots.
I encourage you to grab one right now here below. It’s first come, first served.
Now, the folks who do this sort of consulting for the ultra-wealthy charge tens, even hundreds of thousands for their guidance. I do not. Nor do I work on a “billable hours” basis like a lawyer.
Instead, for a one-on-one consult, I would charge a one-time, flat fee of just $1,299.
But, because you’re in our IL world, I’ll extend an additional savings to you.
When you register below right now you can secure your spot for just $1,299 $997.
But again, I’m opening only a very limited number of slots. I expect these will fill up quickly. If you’re interested, please don’t wait. Scroll down now, fill out the form, and secure your place.
I look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Ted Baumann
Editor, Global Citizen

P.S. Fill out this form here below to request my consulting service. I’ll email you back a confirmation that you have secured a place. And I’ll send you a few questions to answer so I can begin to get a sense for what you’re hoping to do. We’ll hop on a 15- to 20-minute pre-consultation call. I’ll go do some research specific to you. And then we’ll have our two full 45 minute sessions.
If that sounds good, fill out this form here below, and we’ll get started...
P.P.S. Need more time make up your mind? These consults work best for people who know what they want and have specific goals in mind. I recommend you keep this page bookmarked so you can come back to it quickly once you’ve made up your mind.
Yes, Ted, I’d like to work with you one-on-one as a consulting client. I’m interested in the ways I can use international structures to better secure my assets, grow my wealth, and protect my future, and I’d like your guidance and direction about my situation. I understand that you cannot provide personalized investment advice or act in the capacity of a lawyer or accountant.
I understand that space is limited, and that by registering today, I'm benefitting from a special discount. My one-on-one consulting session will take place within the next 8 weeks—or when it's convenient for me—as we'll arrange.
